Distronet Ep [12" Vinyl]

Distronet EP [12" Vinyl]Opis:Look brother! There s a new groove... announces Thefft on his new Distronet EP for Fulcrum Records. It takes an extraordinary talent to take the history of house and techno and restructure it to the point of satire, but there s something undeniably fun about the prickly broken beats that makes Thefft s music so distinctive. Distronet is the second outing on the Damu / Rogerson curated Fulcrum imprint, following the stripped-back UK dancefloor grit of Paleman s inaugural All Good EP. A-side selections Jungle Out There and Distronet set the tone with an elastic selection of vocal snippets, teched-out stabs and itchy percussion. On the B-side, This Way Down toys with this same style, resulting in an unforgettable masterclass in glitchy edits and meticulously arranged breakbeat techno before making way for TenTen , an altogether jazzier affair with live piano and soul vocals given the Thefft treatment. The wax debut proper of this young veteran will come as a relief to those in the know. His tracks have been known to dominate the sets of Oneman over the past year, who included an unreleased Thefft track in his recent FabricLive 64 mix, as well as consistent support from Loefah, Zed Bias and Disclosure. He was also selected by Mary Anne Hobbs to play on her XFM stage at the Camden Crawl in London, several months before his first release. The Distronet EP marks the start of the next chapter for this consistently baffling and exciting young producer. Catch him bringing soundsystems to life over the Autumn with members of the Fulcrum Records family, and look out for more upcoming releases on Kerri Chandler's Madtech, and USA-based Embassy Recordings.
