Herbert Von Karajan - The Early Lucerne Years
Opis
Herbert von Karajan - The Early Lucerne YearsOpis:For the first time, this edition makes the previously unreleased early live recordings Herbert von Karajans accessible from the Lucerne Music Festival Weeks. Legendary soloists such as Clara Haskil and Géza Anda, Robert Casadesus and Nathan Milstein. The International Music Festival Lucerne were the first organiser outside Austria to engage Karajan after his ban on performing and denazification procedures and thus allowed him to return to the international podiums. For almost four decades, from 1948 to 1988, he was supposed to put his stamp on the festival. The annual guest performances with the Berlin Philharmonic (from 1958) enjoyed cult status. But already in the decade before, which documents the present edition, Karajan excited audiences like criticism in Lucerne and quickly rose to the formative artist personality next to Furtwängler. The Lucerne live recordings beat the arc from Bach's Concerto for Two Pianos BWV 1061 to Honegger's Symphony liturgique. The exciting, rhythmically taut shaped interpretations show him as an extremely form-conscious conductor of great expressiveness. It also acts as a sensitive and at the same time extremely present in design. The live recordings have been carefully restored sonically. The trilingual booklet includes essays on Karajan's career restart in the post-war years, as well as numerous previously unpublished photos.
